The frost hit hard in the Bordeaux vineyard last April. This devastating phenomenon struck nearly 50% of the vineyard, with a significant effect on the 2017 harvest. Working in the four corners of Bordeaux and its region, our winegrowers have had to adapt to these conditions and unite to face this problem. Early harvest estimates point to a reduction in the crop of nearly 50% compared with 2016.
Prices have already risen and keeping our markets in this context will be the major commercial challenge for 2018. Nevertheless, thanks to our powerful cooperative system and as the leading wine producer in Bordeaux and its region, we will be able to meet our customers’ expectations. Our cellars have reserves of quality wines from the 2015 and 2016 vintages, which will allow us to continue our development process and thus cover our needs.
Furthermore, on the quality level, the first feedback on the 2017 vintage from our winegrowers is positive. This phase, difficult for the entire sector, will give more meaning than ever to the values of cooperation that make up our DNA.
