Drawing on its cooperative DNA, each year Producta Vignobles organises a harvest in one of its vineyards. For the team, it is another opportunity to meet and share the know-how of the winegrowers and the technical teams. This year the appointment was in the vineyard of Château de Monbazillac.
It was Gilles Bartoszek, director of the cooperative, who welcomed us surrounded by his team. With his many years of experience in the job, Gilles shared the secrets of the famous dessert wine that is Monbazillac. A true benchmark, Monbazillac requires very precise and controlled know-how to obtain the soft sweetness that we know it for. The result of over-ripe grapes and botrytis cinerea (noble rot), the bunches are picked by hand and chosen with precision, with only the best being kept. The high sugar content in the berries gives the result that we know: a soft, sweet wine.
The team also had the chance to immerse itself in history by visiting the château, an emblem of the region since the 16th century. Owned by the Monbazillac cooperative, this Bergerac château has an architecture mixing the medieval and Renaissance periods. Located in the heart of the prestigious vineyard that bears its name, the château offers an extraordinary view over the Dordogne valley from its terraces.
